This August, Galicia’s Tourist Trains return with experiences to suit every taste. Wine tourism, heritage, historic gardens, lighthouses, gastronomy and breathtaking landscapes come together in routes that include guided tours, boat trips and tastings.

Mariñas Route Train
Departures: August 1
This route invites visitors to discover some of the most iconic landscapes and locations in northern Galicia. The journey begins in Betanzos, where a guided tour reveals the rich heritage and charm of one of Galicia’s best-preserved medieval towns.
The trip continues to the Orballo tea plantations, the only ones in continental Europe, where visitors learn about the cultivation and production process behind this unique crop. The day then continues in Pontedeume, a historic town with a remarkable cultural legacy and an outstanding natural setting.
The itinerary also includes a boat trip along the Ferrol Estuary, offering beautiful views of its coastal landscapes, before concluding with a guided tour of the A Magdalena district, Ferrol’s historic centre, officially designated as a Historic-Artistic Site.
Ribeira Sacra Train (Sil River)
Departures: August 1 and 22
This route showcases some of the most spectacular scenery in Ribeira Sacra, where nature, heritage and a long-standing winemaking tradition come together in a unique setting. The experience begins with a theatrical guided visit to Os Peares railway station, the gateway to this remarkable region.
The journey then continues to Regina Viarum Winery, where visitors discover the secrets of heroic viticulture and enjoy a wine tasting. In Monforte de Lemos, there is free time for lunch and to explore the town.
In the afternoon, a catamaran cruise sails along the Sil River reservoir between dramatic canyons and terraced vineyards. The day concludes with a visit to the Monastery of San Pedro de Rocas, one of Galicia’s oldest monastic sites, set within an area of exceptional historical and natural value.
Valdeorras – Ribeira Sacra Train
Departures: August 8
This itinerary explores two prestigious wine appellations: Ribeira Sacra and Valdeorras. The first experience of the day is a catamaran cruise along the Sil River to the surroundings of Santo Estevo Monastery, offering stunning views of the towering cliffs of the Sil Canyon.
After the river cruise, the route stops in A Rúa, where there is free time for lunch before visiting A Coroa Winery. Here, visitors discover the distinctive characteristics of Valdeorras Designation of Origin wines through a guided tour and tasting.
The journey ends at Os Peares railway station, where the Railway Interpretation Centre introduces visitors to the history of the railway and the importance of this major Galician railway junction.
Historic Manor Houses and Gardens of Galicia Train
Departures: August 8
This route invites visitors to explore some of Galicia’s most remarkable historic gardens, where nature, architecture and heritage exist in perfect harmony.
The journey begins at Quinteiro da Cruz Manor House, whose romantic gardens feature ornamental pavilions, hidden corners and one of Galicia’s most important camellia collections. The tour continues to Soutomaior Castle, surrounded by a spectacular botanical garden with plant species from around the world.
The experience concludes at Rubiáns Manor House, whose grounds have been recognised as an International Camellia Garden of Excellence. Its remarkable botanical and landscape heritage makes it a unique place where history, tradition and nature come together.
MEGA Experience and A Coruña 1906 Train
Departure: August 15
This route takes visitors on a journey back in time to discover A Coruña at the beginning of the 20th century. A theatrical guided tour through the historic centre brings the city of 1906 to life through figures such as Emilia Pardo Bazán, while also exploring the origins of Estrella Galicia, founded that same year by José MarÃa Rivera Corral.
The experience continues at the Estrella Galicia Museum (MEGA), where visitors discover the history of beer through an interactive tour that includes a draught beer pouring workshop and a food pairing featuring Galician cheeses and preserves. Afterwards, there is free time for lunch and to enjoy A Coruña’s renowned gastronomy.
The day concludes with a visit to the LUTEGA hop plantations, where visitors learn about the cultivation of one of the essential ingredients in the brewing process.
Galicia Cheese Route Train
Departures: August 22
Food lovers will find this route the perfect opportunity to discover some of Galicia’s most representative cheeses while getting to know the work of local producers.
The itinerary includes visits to Casa do Queixo and Don Crisanto Cheese Dairy, where visitors learn about the production of Protected Designation of Origin cheeses such as Tetilla, Arzúa-Ulloa and San Simón da Costa, accompanied by a selection of tastings.
The experience is completed at Arqueixal, an artisan and organic farming project that showcases a production model committed to sustainability and the preservation of Galicia’s rural heritage.
Lighthouse Route Train
Departures: August 29
This route explores some of the most spectacular landscapes along Galicia’s northern coastline, where lighthouses and dramatic cliffs set the scene for a journey shaped by the power of the Atlantic Ocean.
The itinerary visits iconic locations including Cape Ortegal, the VixÃa Herbeira viewpoint—home to one of Europe’s highest sea cliffs—the Sanctuary of Santo André de Teixido and Cape Estaca de Bares, the northernmost point of the Iberian Peninsula.
The journey also includes a stop in Viveiro, panoramic views over the Viveiro and O Barqueiro estuaries, and a visit to the Loiba cliffs, a natural area of extraordinary beauty.
Monterrei Wine Train
Departures: August 29
This route introduces visitors to the Monterrei Designation of Origin through an experience that combines heritage, wine tourism and gastronomy.
The day begins with a guided theatrical tour of Monterrei Castle, where visitors discover the history of this impressive fortress. The itinerary then continues to Gargalo Winery for a wine tasting accompanied by a light snack. In VerÃn, there is free time for lunch and to explore the town.
In the afternoon, the route visits the historic town of Allariz, the Ecoespazo do Rexo, where visitors enjoy a cheese tasting, and the Collegiate Church of Xunqueira de AmbÃa. Before returning, there is a final stop at Baños de Molgas railway station, now converted into a museum and gastronomic venue.
