Discover Galicia aboard the Tourist Train Routes

The new season of Galicia’s Tourist Trains is here! Organized by Turismo de Galicia in collaboration with Renfe and the Ourense Institute for Economic Development – INORDE, these trips invite you to explore the region from a fresh perspective.

13 different routes await you for unique experiences: from dreamlike landscapes and historical heritage to the best local cuisine, with the train as the centerpiece of the adventure.

Additionally, the journeys include bus segments that bring you closer to key points of interest on each route. Below, we present all the routes and their departures.

  • Camellia in Bloom Route

From Santiago de Compostela, you will head to Pazo de Quinteiro da Cruz. There, you will enjoy a guided walking tour of its gardens, which host over 1,000 camellia varieties.
Next, you will travel by train to Pontevedra to discover the gardens of Pazo de Lourizán, a true flower paradise.

For lunch, you will have free time in Pontevedra to taste some of Galicia’s finest dishes (lunch not included).

In the afternoon, you will visit Pazo de Rubians, a reference in the world of camellias and Rías Baixas wine, with over 4,500 camellia specimens and a variety of botanical species.
Finally, a bus will take you to Vilagarcía train station.

  • Lighthouses Route

The Lighthouses Route takes you to the northernmost point of the Iberian Peninsula, passing through iconic locations such as Cabo Ortegal, the Vixía Herbeira viewpoint (one of the highest cliffs in Europe), the Sanctuary of Santo André de Teixido, and Cabo de Estaca de Bares.

You will also visit the town of Viveiro and enjoy stunning views of the Rías de Viveiro and O Barqueiro.

On the way back, you will see the famous cliffs of Loiba.

  • Ribeira Sacra Route along the Sil River

Experience the Ribeira Sacra wine route along the Sil River. During this journey, you will be immersed in the mystery of the Ribeira Sacra.

The trip begins with a theatrical guided visit at Os Peares station to learn about the surrounding area. Next, you will enjoy a guided tour at Regina Viarum winery, discovering the secrets of its wines and even tasting them.
In Monforte de Lemos, you will have free time for lunch and to enjoy Galician gastronomy.

After lunch, you will board a catamaran at San Estevo pier to explore the fantastic inland sea formed by the Sil River reservoir.

On the way back, you will visit San Pedro de Rocas Monastery, where a very special monk will enchant you with a mystical “queimada.”

  • Ribeira Sacra Route along the Miño River

With this train, you will discover another Ribeira Sacra, perhaps less known but equally stunning.

You will visit the Monastery of the Bernardas in Pantón, where you can purchase their artisanal pastries.

You will also visit the facilities of the Arxeriz Ecomuseum, a space combining ethnography, history, and nature of the Ribeira Sacra.

In the afternoon, you will board a catamaran on the Miño River from Belesar for a spectacular journey through Romanesque landscapes.

Later, you will admire the heroic viticulture at Vía Romana winery, located in a 16th-century manor house named after the Roman road linking Astorga and Braga. After the visit, you can taste some of its wines.

  • Monasteries Route

This train will take you to the “Galician Versailles,” the Baroque Pazo de Oca, where you can enjoy a walk through its magnificent gardens.

Next, travel back to the Middle Ages with a visit to Carboeiro Benedictine Monastery, recently used as a film set.

In O Carballiño, we will visit the Temple of Veracruz. Use your free time to have lunch and visit the Gran Balneario or walk along the Arenteiro River.

After lunch, we will visit Oseira Monastery, the first Cistercian monastery in Galicia.

  • Ribeira Sacra and Valdeorras Route

This train invites you to explore the landscapes of the Ribeira Sacra and Valdeorras Designations of Origin.

On the Sil River, you will board a catamaran to the area around Santo Estevo Monastery to admire the stunning Sil Canyon.

After free time for lunch in A Rúa, we will visit A Coroa winery to taste a wine from the Valdeorras DO.

The day ends with a visit to the historic Os Peares – Inorde train station, where you can explore its railway classroom and learn about the area.

  • Rías Baixas Route

This train will take you to the Rías Baixas DO region. From your seat, enjoy views of the Arousa estuary and the medieval Torres de Oeste in Catoira.

Visit Pazo Baión winery with an included tasting, and explore the historic center of Cambados, capital of Albariño wine.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat trip in the Vigo estuary, followed by disembarkation and a guided tour on San Simón Island.

  • Ribeiro / Rías Baixas Wine Route

This route combines two DO territories: O Ribeiro and Rías Baixas. You will start with a visit to Señorío de Rubió winery for a wine tasting. 

After exploring the historic center of Ribadavia, with its medieval charm and castle, you will have free time for lunch.

In the afternoon, visit the Wine Museum of Galicia, located in the rectory house of Santo André de Camporredondo in O Ribeiro.

Then, explore Castro de San Cibrao de Las, going back more than twenty centuries in time.
To finish, visit the Traditional Costume Museum and the Automobile Museum.

  • Mariñas Route

This train will let you discover Galicia’s scenic beauty and cultural heritage.
Explore Betanzos with a guided tour and the only tea plantations in continental Europe, at Orballo.

Visit Pontedeume and enjoy a relaxing boat trip on the Ferrol estuary. Finally, take a guided walking tour through the Barrio da Magdalena, the historic center of Ferrol, declared a Historical-Artistic Site.

  • Monterrei Route

A unique plan to explore the Monterrei DO, tasting wines and local products.
The journey begins with a guided and theatrical visit to Monterrei Castle, reliving the Middle Ages.

Visit Gargalo winery for a wine and snack tasting, then free time for lunch in Verín.
In the afternoon, stroll through Allariz village, enjoy a cheese tasting at Ecoespazo do Rexo, and visit the Collegiate Church of Xunqueira de Ambía.

The last stop is Baños de Molgas train station, now a museum and restaurant.

  • Historic Manors and Gardens Route

This train lets you explore three stunning gardens full of romanticism and history.

Enjoy over 100 plant species at Pazo de Rubiáns, recognized as an “International Camellia Garden of Excellence.”

Visit Soutomaior Castle gardens and the romantic Pazo Quinteiro da Cruz garden, with over 1,000 camellia varieties.

Departures: July 19, September 13

  • MEGA and A Coruña 1906 Experience Route

Start the day with a theatrical walking tour of A Coruña, traveling back to 1906. Learn about early 20th-century A Coruña with figures like Emilia Pardo Bazán and Estrella Galicia founder José María Rivera Corral.

Visit the Estrella Galicia Museum (MEGA), enjoy a beer tasting paired with cheese and preserves.

Free lunch and later, visit LUTEGA hop plantations for a unique look at beer production.

  • Galicia Cheese Route

If you love cheese, this is your route. Visit Casa do Queixo and Don Crisanto cheese factory to learn about Tetilla, Arzúa-Ulloa, and San Simón da Costa cheeses.

Also visit Arqueixal, an example of artisanal and ecological production.
