What to do in Galicia in July from 2nd to 8th?

Ready for this week’s plans? If you like the mountain and the animals you can not miss one of the most important rapa das bestas in Galicia, A Rapa das Bestas de Sabucedo. To finish the weekend, why not stop by A Guarda to enjoy an exquisite lobster rice? Or dress in period costumes at Feira Franca Medieval de Betanzos? Do you like the plan? If not, you can always go to the curious party celebrated in Ribadeo, the “Ribadeo Indiano”.

July 6th – 9th.

A Rapa das Bestas de Sabucedo

Sabucedo, A Estrada, Pontevedra.

Of all the rapas das bestas that are celebrated in Galicia, that of Sabucedo is obligatory, it is the only curro in which the aloitadores face with the horses without strings or sticks to immobilize them and shave their horsehair. There are more than 600 horses that are shaved throughout the weekend.

We can not forget that there are festivals and storytelling to encourage both adults and children. And some “pulpeiro” to feed us.

Remember that in order to attend the curro you must buy a ticket, online or the day itself.

Festa da Lagosta e da Cociña Mariñeira

 Parroquia de A Guarda (Santa María), A Guarda, Pontevedra.

If you have never taste a lobster or any other crustacean of A Guarda, you should know that they enjoy an extraordinary quality.

In this party, apart from the tasting, you can also enjoy musical and theatrical performances, guided tours of the Ruta das Cetáreas, 4 kilometers long, which includes all the seafaring history of the town, or observe some beautiful views from the Monte de Santa Trega.

Feira Franca Medieval de Betanzos

 Betanzos, A Coruña.

The city of Betanzos goes back to the past decorating its streets with banners, installing almost 150 craft stalls and organizing activities and outdoor performances, such as the burning of the witch, medieval tournaments with warriors on horseback, archery exhibitions, theater and representations of historical events.

If you want to return to the past with the inhabitants of this city, we encourage you to dress in period costumes.

Ribadeo Indiano

Ribadeo, Lugo.

In the last decades of the nineteenth century and the first of the twentieth, Ribadeo lived a period of economic boom due to the return of the Indians.

When the first emigrants began to return, they built houses with a cosmopolitan architecture symbolizing the triumph achieved outside. This means that today Ribadeo has a very important Indian heritage.
