Paradores de Turismo de España is a chain of Spanish luxury hotels. It was founded by Alfonso XIII of Spain in 1928. The hotels are often in castles, palaces, fortresses, convents, monasteries and other historic buildings.

The Parador in Santiago de Compostela, Hostal dos Reis Católicos, has been open and serving pilgrims (and other visitors) since 1499, and by some considered the worlds oldest Hotel.

Today Hostal dos Reis Católicos is a 5-star hotel located right on the Plaza de Obradoiro, just a few meters from the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. It is this cathedral that is the goal of thousands of pilgrims arriving in Santiago de Compostela each year, and the location of this hotel makes it a good choice for pilgrims and other visitors.
