What to do in Galicia the week of February 3rd to 9th

The first acts of the entroido (carnival) coexist on this week’s schedule with proposals as varied as urban art, circus, a charity festival, cinema made in Galicia and the best gastronomy.

 

First Entroidos

February 8th and 9th. Various municipalities

The central acts of the entroido will begin in a few days, but the festivities have already begun in some municipalities. In Xinzo de Limia, this weekend will be the Saturday of the Hanging of the Meco and the Sunday Oleiro, while on the banks of the Ulla River its famous Xenerais will take their funny couplets to Vedra and Santiago de Compostela (Saturday 8th) and Teo (Sunday 9th).

 

Benefit Concert fot NormalizAutismo

February 7th. Santiago de Compostela

Guadi Galego, Luis Fercán, Yoli Saa, Jorge Casal, Xabier Vizcaíno, Vicky Castelo, Silvia Penide and Adriana Moragues are some of the voices that will put their music and art at the service of a solidarity cause on Friday 7th. That day they will go up to the stage of the Main Theater to participate in the second edition of the benefit festival for the non-profit organization NormalizAustismo Galicia.

San Brais de Bembrive

February 3rd. Vigo

After several weeks of entertainment in the furanchos of the area, the Bembrive’s Vigo parish will enjoy Monday 3rd the central day of San Blas, that this year premieres its status as a tourist interest celebration. The festive atmosphere, the music and the rich flavors of this time of the year will be the protagonists of the day.

If you have not yet contemplated the best works of the Xuventude Crea contest, you still have a few days to do it in Compostela. The Anxel Casal library will host until the 8th the finalist projects in graffiti competition.

Cinema Galego Week

From February 6th to 9th. A Coruña

The Colón Theater opens its doors to the Galician audiovisual sector by dedicating four days of screenings. The public will enjoy titles like the multi-award-winning “O que arde” (Thursday 6th), “Longa noite” (Friday 7th), “Eroski Paraíso” and “Quien a hierro mata” (Saturday 8th), and “Feedback” ( Sunday 9th).

Escenas do Cambio 2020

The performing arts return to the City of Culture with a new edition of the Escenas do Cambio festival. With the idea of ​​path and change as a guiding thread, the program brings together a dozen varied proposals (dance, theater …) in which the Galician representation is in charge, among others, of Quico Cadaval, Celso Sanmartín and Guti.

Cirque du Soleil

The famous Cirque du Soleil returns to Galicia to present the show “Corteo” at the Multiusos do Sar pavilion. The clown Mauro will guide the public through a story and a montage that combine joy and colorfulness with melancholy and lyricism.

Conference on music industries

Music as an element to overcome borders is the axis on which the first session of the conference on cultural industries promoted by the Paideia Foundation will be held. Galicia, a story in the world

A selection of pieces of great importance for the history and culture of this land and coming from various countries of the world come together in the exhibition that can be visited in the Gaiás Center Museum, of the City of Culture. This is the first major exhibition organized by the Xunta on the occasion of Xacobeo 2021.
