Festa da Anguía e Mostra da Caña do País

August 24 to 25 – Valga, Pontevedra.

Valga hosts like every year the celebration of exaltation of the eel and cane liquor. In the course of the party, you can taste eel in various preparations: in empanada, fried, stewed with potatoes, breaded, pickled or the Bella Otero (with rice). As for the cane liquor, the agenda includes a sample of traditional spirits, also having a contest of white, toasted and herbal liquors. At 0:00 on Saturday 25, a free lunch will be held for all attendees.

Sunday is the big day of celebration and begins with the reading of the proclamation and the presentation of prizes to the winners of the Cane Show.

 

Festa “da Istoria” in Ribadavia

August 24 and 25 – Ribadavia, Ourense.

Ribadavia returns to the past to celebrate its well-known medieval festival. To enjoy it to the fullest, it is advisable to get on character and go disguised in medieval style. If you have no costume, don’t worry, the organization has thousands of costumes to rent.

To complete the return to the past, all purchases are made using maravedis, which you can exchange in an office installed in the City Council of Ribadavia.

There is a great program of activities, from games for children and living children’s chess, to knight-fighting, ladies’ dances, Jewish wedding, demonstrations of falconry, archery, etc.

O Naseiro

August 24 to 28 – Parish of San Pedro de Viveiro, Viveiro, Lugo.

Booths, tents, stalls and flea markets, stages and attractions, fill the parish of San Pedro de Viveiro, in this party also known as the “festa do bo xantar“.

Octopus, seafood, sweets, meats, sardines and broth are consumed en masse, to the music of the bagpipes and charangas by day, and of the verbena at night.

The program of the festivities is completed with the traditional Landro river descent, a competition with boats and extravagant outfits and above all, a lot of sense of humor.

 

Pull&Bear Pantín Classic Galicia Pro

August 24 to September 2 – Playa O Rodo, Pantín, Concello de Valdoviño. A Coruña

During this week, one of the most important surfing events in Europe is celebrated. Every year, there are some of the best surfers on the planet such as Josh Kerr, Silvana Lima, Coco Ho, William Cardos, etc. It is the only international professional surfing event held in Spain, one of the few held at this level in Europe and the third oldest internationally.

Folión de Carros

Saturday, August 25 – Chantada, Lugo.

As its name indicates this festival has as its central act a parade of carts pulled by oxen, on which are depicted scenes of traditional crafts and agricultural work. Entertained by the performance of bagpipers and band, the parade is followed by the proclamation and a festival in the Plaza de Santa Ana.

 

Festa do Viño do Condado do Tea

August 26 to 28 – Salvaterra de Miño, Pontevedra.

The party is celebrated in the magnificent Fortress of Salvaterra where you can enjoy the best wines of this subzone of the D.O. Rías Baixas, gastronomic products from the sea, the river and the land, while you listen to the concerts offered at gastronomic nights. On Sunday the winners of the prizes for the best wines of the year are announced.
